I’ve had my blog up and running for a while now and one thing I can *never* get to work is visitor/usage stats. I just tried again with WP-Dashboard-Stats, which told me that I needed to install wordpress.com stats (which makes no sense). Then it asked for API codes (huh?) and long story short, I removed both.

I’ve tried Statsurfer, only got code errors on the top of my blog. I’ve tried a couple of other plugins and they insist that I have no viewers even after months pass. True, I don’t get many, but I know there are some.

All I want is stats accessible from the Dashboard, just like the Akismet stats, only for viewers not spam.

What am I doing wrong? How can I fix this once and for all?

Any help for what I know is a stupid question is very much appreciated.

  • There may be a “WordPress-specific” answer for this (visitor stats), but everyone I know uses AWSTATS in cPanel (system management software provided free to their customers by most web hosting companies) or Google Analytics. I’m an AWSTATS fan myself.

Thanks for the reply. I’m not sure what AWSTATS is exactly, but I can get stats from my web host; I guess I’ll stay with that. –EdB
