    Hello!

I love using the newsletter plugin i think its the best on its job so far but i ran into a problem.

I know it is not recommended to send newsletters through a @gmail.com account. But this is what i have been doing so far since my client wants to use his gmail for all of his woocommerce order updates as well as some other plugins.

For that to work i use the free version of WP Mail SMTP and set it up with the Gmail. I know there are serious limitations using that though… and i am afraid of possibly getting banned in gmail if i sent any newsletters using it even though we currently have a list less than 100 users. Currently only confirmation mails have been sent through it to the subscribers.

I do have a specific newsletter email that is @sitename.com from my hosting provider but the problem is that even if i set it as a “from address” through the newsletter plugin the emails still get routed through the WP Mail SMTP thus they get sent through Gmail.

Is there any way to disable the SMTP specifically for the newsletter plugin emails or maybe a way to use dual SMTPs without destroying anything?

Basically i would like to use my [email protected] email for the plugin and the @gmail.com email for the rest of my website’s actions.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi, you can install our free SMTP addon so all emails generated by Newsletter will be sent with that service.

    Hello Stefano!

You are referring to the “SMTP2Go (Free)” or the “External SMTP (Free)” that can be found from the add-ons tab within the newsletter plugin?

If so this wont mess with the rest of my emails on the website that go through the WP Mail SMTP? I want the second @sitename.com email to be used exclusively for the newsletter and nothing else.

    Thanks for your quick response!

The SMTP addon can be configured to connect to any SMTP, while SMTP2Go is a delivery service, like mailersend, amazon ses, mailjet, sendgrid, …. Of course they are paid services, even if they usually offer a free plan.

So i did install the external SMTP addon but i run into some issues. First of all the following error started popping around after i installed the addon extension plugin & the addon itself:

Warning: Undefined array key “enabled” in \app\public\wp-content\plugins\newsletter\includes\controls.php on line 585

Then I did follow the instructions i found in here:

    https://www.thenewsletterplugin.com/documentation/addons/delivery-addons/smtp-extension/

but they don’t refer to what the “user” and “password” fields of the “Authentication” section expect. Do i need to insert my email and its actual password?

In any case… wont this SMTP addon conflict with the existing WP mail SMTP plugin? I have observed that despite changing the “from address” (in TNP) i can still see emails in my sent tab in Gmail that were sent to users from the newsletter plugin.

Do you happen to know if its safe to send a newsletter even though using Gmail through the WP mail SMTP plugin?

Hi, there are no conflicts with WP Mail SMTP, just setup the required information on our addon (you need the username and password, the SMTP hosts and protocol, your mail provider for sure has them). Save the options and the warning should disappear (anyway thank you reporting I’ll check it). Probably you have the WP_DEBUG active you can see it on Tools/Site Health.
