Looks like the URL of your site has changed. In order to continue using Site Kit, you’ll need to reconnect, so that your plugin settings are updated with the new URL. Reconnect

After a few days of reconnecting, it turns out Site Kit is not compatible with WPML, the most popular premium language plugin. If only it could better detect this and warn users, clearly, in the main dashboard not to bother.

It dropped connection every time languages was switched on the frond end, but, the url has not really changed as far as I’m concerned.

Site Kit seems to be working fine on my other single language sites, and it really looks like a useful plugin I’d like to keep using, but I am going to remove it from all of my sites until it works properly on all my sites.

    Hi James,

    Thanks for letting me know.

Instead of starting a new thread I thought to keep going in here because it is still a related issue, me thinks.

So I went ahead and reinstalled Site Kit, and for the most part it seems to be working, at least it has not dropped the connection so far in the last 12 hours. However, if I go to a Dutch post, which is the sites secondary language and hover on the Site Kit icon at the top, it shows me 2 blue boxes with this in them:

    “Analytics Gathering Data
Analytics data is not yet available, please check back later.”

So I keep checking back and nothing changes, yet these are posts I know have been viewed, everything is in the actual Analytics account. Also, when I click on ‘More Details’ to go to the Site Kit dashboard within WP, it shows me this:

It looks like the URL https://www.thetastychilli.com/nl/gegrilde-venkel-en-wortel-uit-de-oven/ is not part of this site, therefore there is no data available to display.

Umm, it is part of this site.

Am I perhaps missing some setting somewhere?

One more thing, Site Kit did not automatically detect that the GA code snippet is already in place via my theme and added its own code too, which I know is not a good idea. I had to set that myself in the Site Kit settings: “Inserted by another plugin or theme”

    Hi Sean,

I’d have to test out the various WPML configurations myself to check how WPML works. Some language plugins provide URL parameters and use services such as Google Translate to output a language based version of a post, with no actual addition post created for that language. An similar scenario which I’ve created a GitHub issue for is AMP URLs. While there are query var variations of a URL (?amp-1 for example) these URLs will be based from a canonical URL. I’ll have to check how the plugin handles such URLs from the admin toolbar reporting, but you’re right that the plugin should be able to report on such URLs with all variations.

If you want to create a new support topic we’d be happy to look into this, while we’re also reviewing other language plugins and the variations on how they work.
