• Somewhere, somehow, my WP custom menus have stopped working. The structure is still there in the menu wp dialogue box, but the theme (even twentyeleven and twenty-ten) show the whole menu of ALL my pages, not just the custom menu and not in dropdown boxes.

At the same time, (may be related, probably not) the screenshot.png’s have stopped showing up in the Select Theme dialogue tab

Not a biggie on the screenshots, but I need my menus to work. Obviously something got corrupted or misdirected, but what?

  • Try re-saving your custom menu. Or, move one of the custom menu items around… save… move it back… and save again.

Also, double-check to make sure you custom menu is assigned to the main-nav area.

same problem in my site also please help me

Yeah, that was the first thing I tried. I was hoping that there was a minor glitch in the db and changing the order and saving it would help, no go.

Since posting, I reloaded my core wp files. That didn’t help either, so I’m convinced that it is a corrupt db. I’ve deleted the menu, optimized (and repaired) my db, and am in the process of rebuilding from scratch.

Thanks for your suggestion. I’ll let you know how it works out.

Oh gosh… yeah, sounds like you know what you are doing ??

    Okay… keep us posted, please.

Sayan162, check to make sure that you have javascript working. It’s on of those things we forget like making sure the monitor is actually plugged in while we try to find out why it stopped working.

Okay, rebuilt the menu, and I now have the dropdown action working. But I still have the extra pages that are not included in the menu showing up. Every page NOT assigned to the Main menu is also on the menu.

This one is a head scratcher.

    Quick question.

Does the twentyeleven make use of the wp custom menus or does it just use the parent-child settings from the individual pages?

AH HA! (and light dummy slap to head)

I discovered that when I activate a different theme, wp looses the Primary Navigation setting. From then on, no matter what theme I switch to, I am not loading the wp custom navigation menu. (In my case, wp was defaulting to the parent-child settings on individual pages.)

    To fix:

I went to Appearance > Menu. Then in the upper left-hand corner labeled Theme Locations. In it is the dropdown for Primary Navigation. I reset main navigation menu there. Not it works.

sayan162, I hope this is able to help you.

Lol.. didn’t you see that in my original post above??

Also, double-check to make sure your custom menu is assigned to the main-nav area.

Glad you got it working ??

    Obviously I missed that.

Thanks for being gracious about it. The real laugh is my reminding sayan162 to make sure javascript was working. I point out the basics to someone else and forget about them, (and ignore the reminder from you) myself.

So, all is well. I can stop panicking. Subject closed. I’ll see you in the forums.

    Thanks!

    LMMFAO… tooooo funny ??

    My pleasure.
