Dropdown Cats Selected

I’m using wp_dropdown_categories and have chosen to show only the sub categories of a particular category, using child_of=. This works fine. However the drop down menu shows the first sub category. I would like to change this to a selected name, such as “select category”. I tried select= name of the parent category, but this did not work.
