Dropcap skews formatting when used down-page

Thank you! The drop cap is intended to be used only on the first letter of each paragraph. If it’s placed in the middle of a paragraph, it will push the drop cap to the left because it uses float: left in the CSS.

Yes – I’ve used drop cap for the first letter of a new paragraph, and it pushes the paragraph to the left.

I can’t see any paragraph that is pushed to the left. Everything looks fine to me. Here is what it looks like when I apply the drop cap to a new paragraph on your website (I use Chrome’s inspect element to modify the page):

So sorry for the inconvenience. After I re-published the post to demonstrate the error an email was sent to my subscribers notifying them of a “new” article and the post started to get visits. So by the time you looked at it, I had already removed the second drop cap.

As you can see on this pict: https://screencast.com/t/jOexyt3UuB, the paragraph are placed outside the HTML <p> tag. That’s what makes it like that. Can you edit the post and check the HTML tab (on visual editor) to fix it?

I used the text editor, which normally displays code, and didn’t find the   tag you found. I screen captured the text editor and embedded it as a photo in the post, so you’ll be able to see what I was looking at.

Is there an editing view other than visual and text?

What about the first paragraph? Do you use [dropcap] shortcode or automatic feature? Can you try to manually put <p> HTML tag in the beginning of the paragraph and </p> in the end?

I never use the shortcode; I always use the automatic feature.

I tried what you recommended above — using <p> tags — and it worked the first time, but in subsequent edits and updates to text elsewhere in the body of the article, the <p> tags vanished, and the formatting reverted to flush left margin. Bottom line is that the automatic feature regularly throws the margins off if used anyplace other than the first letter of the first sentence of an article. The use of <p> tags doesn’t consistently work.

Would be great if you could fix this in your next release. ??

Please update the plugin to the latest version. Then on the paragraph (other than the first paragraph) that you want to add drop cap, put shortcode [dropcap]word[/dropcap] on the first word of the paragraph.
