Oh buy, guys… you didn’t stated in BOLD text that the change in Dropbox also changes the app sub-folder name from BackWPup to InpsydeBackWPup…

This caused some sync tasks to fail and me not understanding why the log says the upload finished OK but the file is not at the Dropbox folder…

Please add this info to the change log and to the special Dropbox change post.

    Thanks.

    Eitan

  • @eitanc Thank you, good idea! I adapted the sticky post and the documentation and I asked our devs to adapt the changelog.

    Kind regards

    Hello @eitanc

I’m sorry for this misunderstanding. Starting with BackWPup version 3.6.9, a new connection process to the Dropbox has been implemented for security reasons.

If you are already using Dropbox with an older version of BackWPup, you will need to update the plugin. Otherwise, BackWPup will not be able to connect to your Dropbox account.

To prevent this, please follow these steps:

    https://backwpup.com/docs/restore-dropbox-connection-backwpup-3-6-9-later/?noredirect=en

Note: All backup tasks must be authenticated separately.

The optimized process will create a new app order called InpsydeBackWPup at DropBox and all future backups will be stored in this folder.

Backups located in the old folder called BackWPup cannot be deleted or restored via BackWPup Backend. These backups must be deleted manually.

To restore a backup from the App Order BackWPup we recommend using our Stand Alone App. Further information can be found at:

    https://backwpup.com/docs/install-backwpup-restore-stand-alone-app/?noredirect=en

We apologize for the inconvenience, but this is for the better security of your backups.

    Best regards
    Andreas

Andreas, changes is OK, but you have to give customers ALL the relevant data, and here you left out an important information that now you must announce it clear and loud to them.

I’m going to close this ticket here. Let us know if there is any other question.
    Thanks!

If company have 1000 PCs with Dropbox Pro account (we sync only selective folders per PC), your new InpsydeBackWPup folder appeared in all 1000 PCs. I did not find any solution to keep BackWPup folder and do not involve all 1000 PC to download new backup files.
