Hi, I’m trying to set up backup to Dropbox.

I am logged in to dropbox in my browser. I toggle Dropbox on in the UpdraftPlus settings. Then I save and hit the “follow this link to authenticate” link. It takes me to the orange screen. I click the “complete setup” button and am asked to log in to wordpress again. Then I get the orange screen, then I’m in a loop.

Oddly, though, my dropbox has an empty updraft.com folder now. If I delete that folder, then do the process again, it asks me to authorize, but then I get back into the loop again.

I saw on these forums that you can ask your host to increase the max query string size, and they (dreamhost) said they can’t do that.

Are there any other solutions? Any logs, or an alternate way to set it up?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I’m having the same issue, and this is on a site that’s been backing up to Dropbox for over 3 years. So it may be something new introduced in the latest release?

    Hi,

Please can you confirm that you are using the latest version 1.16.33?

Do you also have other websites that uses a different version and do you get the same issue also there?

I will also do some test and see if we can replicate the issue.

    Best Wishes,

Hi, my version says “Version: 1.16.34” and I only have this installed on one website.

I will try a different version if you can point me to where I can download an older version.

    Hi,

    Apologies for the delay.

Are you using any form of plugin which redirects or hides WP Admin?
If so, please could you try temporarily disabling that plugin and authenticating again?

This issue can also occur if you are using a plugin to implement SSL/TLS on the site, but the ‘Site URL’ and ‘WordPress URL’ options in the WordPress General settings do not match.
(e.g. if the site is accessed via ‘https://site.com’, but your Site URL setting is configured to ‘https://www.site.com’)

If this is the case, please try updating the site url and wordpress url to match

Thanks for your reply. I don’t have any plugins of that sort, and I am not using SSL. The site URL and wordpress URL in general settings both match (http).

Something else is getting involved. This could be a plugin, or could be something in the webserver (there are some security modules which consider the very long token Dropbox sends back to be suspicious). Does it happen if you temporarily de-activate all other plugins?

Thanks David. That did the trick. If I get some free time I’ll try to figure out which one was causing issues.
