Yoast Google Analytic’s for WordPress plugin interferes with authenticating Dropbox for BackWPup.

    Steps:
    0) Have Yoast Google Analytic’s for WordPress plugin active
    1) Create a new job and press authenticate with dropbox button
    2) When at the dropbox site, give backWPup permission.
    3) When redirected to your WP site, the settings page for Yoast Google Analytic’s for WordPress plugin is displayed.
    4) Go to edit previous backup job and BackWPup is not authenticated.

    Workaround:
Deactivate Yoast Google Analytic’s for WordPress plugin and then authenticate dropbox. Once authenticated, you can reactivate Yoast plugin and BackWPup runs without any problems.

FYI – you should be asking for permission to access just an app folder on dropbox, not everything on the dropbox account. BackWPup works great but it is huge security liability to grant a plugin access to the whole dropbox account. Much badness can happen if there is ever an exploit.

I just tested with Yoast 4.2.8 and it does work.

Any thoughts on changing dropbox authentication to just have access to an app folder? I really like the plugin but giving it full access to the company dropbox account is not and option

chainlinq – I got around this issue by signing up for a new Dropbox account, authenticating the new account to BackWPup and then sharing the new account into a specific folder on my main Dropbox account. That way I know that nothing can get compromised.

Of course if your backups are >2GB then this probably won’t work for you.
