Drop Down Menus STILL fail to work after fresh install.

  • I dont know when this happened or how but all of a sudden my wordpress site decided to not allow drop down menus among other things, here is my previous forum post which explains it

    alright, so dead end. I did all of that.
    so, just now i decided i was going to make a completely fresh wordpress installation on an empty domain i had. Installation was quick and painless. I open up the admin menu, same problems. This is before I changed anything. I opened it up ad no drop down menus and no white text. the version is 2.9.2.
    I downloaded those files from wordpress minutes ago, unzipped, changed the config file ad uploaded, thats it. so whats the dilema!!? I may have found the cause.

    In this post devblog describes how there is a conflict in the admin bar css? apparently all that needs to be done is to open a file up and clip some code off. which file? I cant find this code anywhere. I’ve ben up for hours toiling with this problem and researching. please, please help.

    If that is needed at all.

    You might want to try adding:
    define( 'CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS', false );
    into your wp-config.php file, near the top, to see if that helps.

    The post you describe above is talking about the WordPress admin bar on WordPress.com, not self hosted WordPress.

    Have you tried installing on a different host or locally to see if you have the same issue? A weird hosting configuration is all I can think of. This isn’t a problem with the core, I’ve installed 2.9.2 a couple times this week with no problems.

    I’m not going to lie. I just jumped up out of my chair in joy and did the happy dance. alism it worked! Not only did it fix the drop down menus but it also allowed me to edit posts via the html tab and it fixed my white text issue. I thank everyone for helping me for this problem and I hope anyone facing this issue googles this post.

    Now, I’m off to find out what this “define( ‘CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS’, false );” does exactly.

    I’ve tried adding that piece to the wp-config.php in 3.0.5 and no change ??

    I’m at a loss!
