• Hi there – my site (www.nwfolklife.org) uses the Hector theme, with primary navigation that used to have a drop down menu appear when you rolled over.

I recently updated my version of WordPress, but that might not be the cause. I’m obviously changed something, but I’m not sure what. I haven’t been making any changes to the menus directly recently.

Can anyone help me diagnose why they won’t drop down anymore? I’ve tried in two browsers. Thank you!

  • Might be a JavaScript issue. The standard troubleshooting steps are to deactivate ALL plugins and switch to the twentytwelve theme. If they work there, switch back to your theme – test. If the don’t work, it’s a theme issue and you’ll need to ask the people you got the theme from about it (these forums only support themes from this site). If they do work okay, start reactivating your plugins one by one – which should identify what plugin is causing the problem.

Thank you! And thanks for answering even though it’s not a standard WP theme. Will I lose any settings if I switch themes, and switch back, while testing?

Your settings are saved on a per-theme basis, so you should be able to switch back without problems.
