Drop-down menu for different recipients does not appear

Hi

I am using the code below to send the message to different recipients:

<p>Enquiry type (required)<br />
    [select recipient  “Sales|[email protected]”  “Partnerships|[email protected]” “Feedback|[email protected]”  “Careers|[email protected]”  “General enquiries|[email protected]”]</p>

But the drop-dowm menu does not appear anywhere. I also tried to put “space” before and after the “|” but it does not work either. What am I doing wrong? Would anyone be so kind as to help me out?
