• Hi guys

I noticed that the up-arrow in the “scroll back to top” icon and the drop-down arrow in the main menu has stopped displaying properly – much like as if the font is no longer working.

I tested this on a desktop Firefox and Brave version and also on a mobile browser – and the result is consistent. I have not edited any menu item or content for many months, and the only change has been a theme update and some plugin updates.

Can you please have a look at the web site and let me know if there is a problem.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

Can you first make sure that you are using the suggested settings for Autopimize here?
    https://generatepress.com/fastest-wordpress-theme/

If that doesn’t help, can you try #1 here to eliminate any plugin conflicts?

    Hi

I followed your instructions carefully. Please note that I have Autoptimize running since my web page was originally created. I encountered 2 problems when following your instructions:

    1. The images you provide of the Autoptimize screens are all out of date – and hence this makes it rather difficult to figure out which boxes to tick.
    2. After making my “best guess” of the changes (due to the above), the “scroll back to top” box disappears.

Consequently, I have had to restore my whole site from a previous backup.

Can you please provide some up to date instructions.

    Thanks

The font that shows the icon isn’t loading due to a 500 internal server error: https://www.screencast.com/t/a5D15LwMk

It may be worth checking with your hosting company to see if they can see what’s going on. The error_log file on your server might detail the error.

    Hi Tom

I had a chat to GoDaddy – and after they had a look, they tried to sell me a “premium customer service” package for $110. Real helpful that was. </sarc>

From Firebug, I can only guess that there must be an issue with the permissions. See below:

    GET https://debittax.info/wp-content/themes/generatepress/fonts/generatepress.ttf [HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error 313ms]
    downloadable font: download failed (font-family: “GeneratePress” style:normal weight:normal stretch:normal src index:3): status=2147746065 source: https://debittax.info/wp-content/themes/generatepress/fonts/generatepress.ttf

If you could give me your best guess as to the problem, I can try and get them to actually do something to assist a paying customer. Who know – if I can actually tell them what to fix, they may just do their job.

    Many thanks.
