Initially I had to wipe the settings because the drop box auth didn’t work. The message was “you appear to be already authenticated” but after a back up ran, there was no updraft folder in drop box.
After wiping, another back up ran and this time I could authenticate to dropbox and the updraft folder was created but so far it’s empty.
So I’m a little puzzled? Is it a timing thing?

Do you have any log files in your wp-content/updraft folder?

Now, yes and also 3 zip files are in drop box so all is well. It ran slower than I expected with the chunking but that’s not a problem. I don’t see a database file – is that in one of the zips?

The only way to answer that is to open the zips and look inside them…

    Hello, just installed UpdraftPlus.

The ‘Back Up Now’ button is dead – I want to regularly back up my entire site to Dropbox (Dropbox successfully set up and linked to the plugin). The reason might be “Backup directory specified does not exist”. Forgive my naiveté – I’m a newbie – but from where do I get this directory info? My WP site, frankstebbing.com is hosted by HostMonster. Thanks!

    Hi Frank,

Does it says “Backup directory specified does not exist” in red towards the bottom? If so, then yes – it won’t allow you to backup until that is fixed. Did you alter the backup directory setting, or was the message there already? There are a couple of links next to that message to either create the directory or restore the default setting.

Also – you should start a fresh forum topic instead of appending to this one, as this was a different topic entirely.

    David
