Drag and Drop Add Media From URL (drag from another website)

  • I would like to be able to add media to the media library by user the nice HTML5 drag and drop upload feature -but I need images from another website, not images from my PC.

    I am building a new site from old. It would make things easier if I could drag an image from the old website into the WP image uploader to add them to the new server and WP’s image library.

    Is this not possible? I can’t even find a plugin to do it.

    NOTE: I realize I can use ‘Select File’ and in the file browser paste in the url of the image from the old website. Obviously this is not as quick and easy as the drag and drop method.

    I’ve had good luck dragging an image into a folder on my desktop (that effectively downloads it- I have a Mac) then drag and drop it into WP media.

    But the fastest way to grab all those images would be to FTP into your server and download the whole folder of images.
