    Hey Developers

I just received a PDF document from payment express that notified us about a upcoming cloud update to DPS that is going to take effect and will require technical action.

They are apparently adjusting the IP Ranges of payment express and will effect DNS cache’s for certain applications. They recommend that we confirm specific cache settings to ensure TTL values are honored. They also provided a list of IP addresses.

is this something that is being applied to the plugin? or does this need to be addressed by plugin users?

    Thanks

    G’day volom,

That’s something specific to your website host.

The plugin references the payment gateway server by name, so it depends on DNS (domain name service) to give back the correct IP address. DPS have already taken steps to ensure that domain name lookups will get the correct address after the switchover. The way they do that is to set TTL (time to live) for the DNS lookup to something very small, so that the systems asking for the address don’t cache it for very long. When they ask for the DNS lookup again, they’ll get the new address.

The note that DPS has sent to you is basically telling you that, and telling you to make sure that your website host won’t cache the DNS lookup past what they tell them. If your host has set things up correctly, this won’t be an issue.

If you’re unsure, please ask your website host to confirm.

    cheers,
    Ross
