Downloads protected by Ninja Form do not work anymore

Hi guys,
after using your plugin for quite a while without problems we have now run into an issue with the current version (not sure if it is related to the version update though).

When I protect a Download with a Ninja Form, all starts well. I click the Download button, I get sent to the corresponding form but then after filling out the form nothing happens. The success message we entered “Thank you for your download” gets displayed but no download is started. Nothing at all happens.

However, this problem only occurs when filling out the form the first time.
After having submitted the form (and the browser remembers that I submitted) when clicking the download button the download starts upon click with no issues.

So the problem seems to be centered around the initial form submission not triggering the download properly.
