    I have a question on downloading files from Amazon S3 server. Im really new to Woocommerce, but I have followed all instructions and things seem to be working fine until I had a 300mb file for sale.

    Originally I was trying to use the S3 plugin by Woothemes but I could not get it to work, and after waiting a week for help on my work ticket I gave up on them. I read that woocommerce now supports S3 natively so I disabled the plugin and just pasted the path to the file directly in.

    But I still had problems downloading. I had set the permissions to “Any Authenticated AWS User is able to Open/Download” as instructions said I should.

    I added a permission to allow Anyone to Open/Download. Now the download is working, but have I opened myself up to security issues and allow anyone to find this file and download it for free?

    I sure hope I can get some help on this as WooThemes is totally ignoring me and I’m really trying hard to get something up for sale.

    Thanks everyone!
    Keir

    You’re not being ignored, there is just a backlog. You’ll get a reply hopefully soon. Ticket ID?

    As for your question, S3 direct links only work if they are publicly accessible. If they are protected, the extension (woothemes one or from someone else) will be needed.

    Hi Mike. Thanks for your response.

    my work ticket is 405390. If you read the ticket you will see how frustrated I am becoming with this issue. It’s been 8 days and the most I have gotten is to make sure my keys are entered correctly. Thats something I checked before I even started the ticket.

    Perhaps it’s a permissions problem. I’m new to setting this up and I noticed that your setup document does not match with Amazon S3 setup in a few places.

    Thanks
    Keir

    There are complexities around the various country based S3 servers. I’ll ping support about the ticket.

    Mike.

    I’m still waiting for some kind of response to the issue I’m having. I was emailing with Caleb, but apparently I have fallen off his radar.

    I initially started my help ticked on April 3rd. Today is the 17th and still I have no solution, nor even any responses to my last two emails.

    I re-enabled the plugin and re-entered the shortcode. Effectively making it impossible for anyone to download my file. I did this so that Caleb could troubleshoot the issue. As soon as I made these changes I have gotten absolutely ZERO response.

    Seriously, what do I have to do to get some help here?

    Just heard back from Caleb. Things seem to be working now. I don’t know what was fixed, but I was able to make the download work.

    Thanks for finally getting this solved.

    I will be uploading more files in the next week or so and if there is any other issue I will let you know.

    Thanks

    Be great to know how to fix this as I’m having the same problem with s3 links which require authorization. I’m getting the following error –

    <Error>
    AuthorizationQueryParametersError
    <Message>
    Error parsing the X-Amz-Credential parameter; the region ‘us-east-1’ is wrong; expecting ‘ap-southeast-2’
    </Message>
    <Region>ap-southeast-2</Region>
    </Error>

    I’ll open a new thread on this as well, but thought I’d post here in case someone has a solution based on the original thread.
