I want to offer some PDF files at https://dirkvanbabylon.com/product-categorie/pdf/ – paid and free. The order process goes fine, but the download link in the ‘order-received page’ NOR in the email doesn’t work.

The link leads to a page saying “Error 503 Backend fetch failed
We’re very sorry, but the page could not be loaded properly.
This should be fixed very soon, and we apologize for any inconvenience.” followed by a lot of debug information that I don’t understand.

Uploading a PDF via the media library upload shows a thumbnail, but uploading a file via the product information, gives a blank thumnbnail.

I already tried with the default WP theme and with all plugins deactivated (except Woo of course), but that doesn’t help.

Best try for yourself with a free PDF.

    Hi @bapakrob,

The “503 Backend fetch failed” error might be a result of the server not having adequate memory or it could be that there are too many requests queuing up.

Reach out to your host’s support and they should be able to figure out what’s the issue. If it’s due to low resources on the server I’d suggest you ask your host to increase the memory limit.

Let us know how it goes.

@rainfallnixfig Thanks for your suggestion. I asked the host about this.

As you said, it “might” be the case. I note that all other parts of the website function very well.
And I tried with the Easy Digital Downloads plugin, and that works very well too.
So, that’s why I think it’s also Woo related.

    Hi there,

I already tried with the default WP theme and with all plugins deactivated (except Woo of course), but that doesn’t help.

I’m sorry to hear that. For more information about this error, and t2o alternative solutions to fix it, please check:

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m marking this thread as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.
