downloading a new theme

Everything transfers automatically to the new theme. The content for posts/pages/widgets/etc is all stored in the database.

The theme is like a “wrapper” for the content in the database.

With that being said… things don’t always come out looking like a sweet rose on a mid-summers day. Usually, you will need to tweak your new theme to display the content in a way you like.

Lastly, if everything is a catastrophe, you can always go back to your original theme.

so after I download it everything will be transferred even my affiliate links.As far a tweeking a new theme I really wouldnt know how to do that on my own.The new theme Id like to download has a left sidebar,and I only have the right one right now.I dont know how that would work out.Maybe I will opt out of doing that then

Would you know what theme would be a good one for a left and right sidebar,and a theme that I could put my own header on there.Would I have to unistall my twenty eleven theme first,and then down just click install,and if I dont like it I will be able to reinstall twenty eleven.Im just a little nervous about doing it

If you don’t mind having footer links that you can’t control downloading themes from third party sites is pretty common. I haven’t yet seen a downloadable theme that doesn’t allow you to place you own header. I found looking through the themes through my dashboard to be rather unproductive. I found several themes i have like and used through ftthemes.com but I have to put up with footer links. You can just google search wordpress themes and find loads of themes to use.

you can download themes to your computer and then upload them through dashboard under the appearance -> themes tabs. This is also a good idea to have if you ever go to use the editor that way if you screw up the code you can just ftp the original code back in.

It’s actually a theme that is off my dashboard that I can just install.Does it just install everything in it right from there or is there other things to do.If I dont like it I want to be able to install my original back.I can do that right

Sorry for taking so long, yes you can just restore what you had right back. It stores, themes you have used and you can find them from your dashboard… appearance -> themes if you have made any coding changes from the original your changes will still be there. You can also delete the theme if you no longer want it. But it won’t delete during the uninstall process.
