As we know that WordPress woocommerce download files are stored in this path … public_html/wp-content/uploads/woocommerce_uploads/2022/01 …. and it is sorting download files by months, like 01 January, 02 February, etc
As I have many categories on my website it would be much easier to understand in which folder are my files if they were sorted by categories
I would like to know if there is any way to change sorting from months to categories Thank you

  • Hi there @faketempl ??

As I have many categories on my website it would be much easier to understand in which folder are my files if they were sorted by categories
I would like to know if there is any way to change sorting from months to categories

Thanks for reaching out. Happy to help you with this!

Setting the downloadable files in folders named after categories, would involve three steps:
    1. Uncheck the “Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders” option, under Settings > Media
    2. Go ahead and create the necessary folders, with an FTP software, under public_html/wp-content/uploads/woocommerce_uploads/
    3. Add those folders, in the Approved Download Directories list, under WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Approved Download Directories.

The aforementioned steps imply that each downloadable file will be added manually to its respective category-named folder, before being attached to a product in your store.

I trust that points you in the right direction. Please let us know if you have any further questions about this matter, or if we misinterpret your concern in any way. We will be happy to help you further.

    Dear @anastas10s ,
    Thank you for your reply,
I did as you mentioned, unchecked the box, then created a new folder for my new category , then added the directory in approved download directories , but after attaching some files to my products it is showing following directory
    https://mydomain.com/wp-content/uploads/woocommerce_uploads/ instead of https://mydomain.com/wp-content/uploads/woocommerce_uploads/contract/

Can you tell me what I did wrong and how to solve this
    Thank you in advance

    Hi there @faketempl,

after attaching some files to my products it is showing following directory
    https://mydomain.com/wp-content/uploads/woocommerce_uploads/ instead of https://mydomain.com/wp-content/uploads/woocommerce_uploads/contract/

Thank you for reaching back. Kindly note that the files now:
    1. Need to be manually uploaded to the https://mydomain.com/wp-content/uploads/woocommerce_uploads/contract/, for example, directory
    2. Need to have their respective URL manually entered within the “Downloadable files” section, under the “General” tab, as showcased in the screenshot directly linked here.

I trust that points you in the right direction, but if you have more questions, let us know. We’re happy to help.
