downloadable file upload inside product won't work

    Here is a funny one I’ve been cranking my head with.

    When I try to upload a downloadable File inside the product, those ones that costumers can buy, it won’t work, I get an HTTP error every time.

    But when I try to upload the exact same file out in the media library, it works Fine.
    Why could that be, and how can I possible correct it, any ideas?

    I think that adding all files in the media library is not a good idea when they are supporsed to be for sale. At least the downloadable fil upload also encrypts it in some way so not everyone with a link can download it.

    Just tried uninstall and reinstall woocommerce, dident work..
    any ideas??

    Copy the file URL from the product into your browser address bar – does it work?

    Only when uploaded in the media library.

    Not from the downloadable products upload inside product. It looks like its uploading, its “thinking” taking its time, and then comes up with a HTTP error, and the file is nowhere to be found.

    Could it be something with its placement? Maby it tries to put it in several locations and then looses track or something? dunno, just an idea..

    Ok, thats because the file is protected. Have you tried a generated download link from WC?

    How protected? Is it something the computer or wp does? I make the files my self and don’t put any protection or restictions on them?

    If you by generated download link mean, can I downloade files with a link made by the woocommerce downloadable files link, then yes, when first I get a file a file “up there” it’s working fine.

    Thats right then. We protect the directory with a htaccess file so users cannot share direct links.

    But does that mean that I can not use the Downloadable product Upload function??

    Because in the normal media upload, users can still google the file if they are smart, and then download it.

    I mean the downloadable product option prevents that, so it would be better??

    Not sure what you mean. You can upload/write no problem, you just cannot access our files directly.

    ohh no, maybe I have told it wrong, but it is the other way around.

    When first the files are up one way or another, everything is working fine.

    It’s getting the file up process that are causing a http error when using the inbuild downloadable product upload.

    Hmm, then perhaps the directory itself is not writable. Check it via ftp?
