• Background
I have had a website for 15 years. It is a travel blog and is wisiwig. I make changes on my PC and upload the HTML. This is because internet is not always available although it is wider spread than when I started. I have used 4 different tools so far and if absolutely necessary will purchase the upgrades to the last used software. I have not updated the website since 2016. I have Windows 10 Pro 2017
    My problem
I downloaded the WordPress software. The file wp-admin/install.php does not show in File Explorer. I opened wp-config-sample but I have no idea what to use as the name etc. I definitely do not want the test version to overwrite my online version.
    Question
What do I use for SQL settings etc.?

  • Is your online site a WordPress site? What server bundle are you using on windows? WAMP, XAMP?

First, you need to set up Apache and MySQL in your computer. Download and install XAMPP

Then, copy WordPress (extracted) inside the HTDOCS folder, which is located Inside the XAMPP folder

Open the XAMPP control panel and then start the PHP and MySQL server.
