Download without registering

  • Hello, I’d like to offer a free download on my site and the possibility to post comments without the need of registering. Maybe stupid question, but how to do that?

  • Upload the file onto your server and insert the link in your page.

    GO to Settings > Discussion and uncheck Users must be registered and logged in to comment.

    Thank you, it seems to work for comments but not for downloads. When I log out and I try to to download the file a registration is required.

    how are you offering the download?

    Easiest way is just to upload the file somewhere on your server with ftp. Or use the upload manager I guess….as long as you have the full url to the item.

    Then make a text link in your post page, using the standard link button in the editor, with the link being the url to the file. Users can then right click/save as

    Yes, problably that’s the best thing to do. This is the website. I use a plugin called Download box but I don’t see how to configure it

    Ah, I’m not familiar with that plugin unfortunately
