Hi there. Thanks for your plugin, I used it already for several years…

Yesterday I added some new MSI files (as download redirects), and I just discovered one of them was always downloaded truncated (by about 20 bytes out of 22MB+ in size). It doesn’t look like a cache problem, as the MSI was invalid (my WP Super Cache was disabled, but Cloudflare was on).

I fixed it by calling an Update of your file download WordPress entry, but I am worried as I cannot do this every time I post a new MSI version.

Are you aware of this problem?

    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Hey Chris,

We are not aware of this issue. Does it affect only certain browsers or everywhere in general? Also, what exact entry did you modify to fix this?

    Hi Harish,

This happened in Chrome, and I don’t know if it’s browser related.

It’s not fixed, it happened again. I keep four current download entries, one per product, with one single attached file inside, which I replace periodically with a new build. The files to donwload are on the same server as the website.

To “fix” it, I had to push the Update button again on each download entry. Otherwise, a different (previous, cached?) file was downloaded instead through the website.

I really don’t know what else to try, as it;s kind of inconvenient to remember each time to refresh the entries, and make sure people get the last files, each time I post a new build.

    Hey Cristi,

From “To “fix” it, I had to push the Update button again on each download entry.” do you mean, after you change the file URL in a download, you have to press the update button twice?

    (@cristiscu)

No. I did not change anything in your entry. I just saved it again, the way it was. It looks like it made something like a refresh, I don’t know…

    Hello,

Earlier when you updated a file, did you update it from WordPress admin using the “Media” menu, or you updated the file by uploading it using our plugin?

    Hello,

There have been no replies to this topic, so I’m marking this as resolved. Please do let us know if you’re still experiencing an issue.

this is NOT resolved, but you just take one week (!) every time to come up with yet another question and I simply give up ??

    Hello Cristi,

Closing a ticket is not permanent. Users who have their issue resolved, usually don’t close it so we have to do it manually.

To look into your issue I need more details. Please share the exact steps you take to update a download.

Usually, when you update the URL in a download, you have to save/update the download using the “Update” button.

    man, are you for real??…

how many times you ask me about that same Update button??…

if it takes you four weeks to sort this out, you must be very… slow, to say the least.

move on, good luck, bye bye.

    Hey Cristi,

I sincerely apologize for how this issue has been handled. Can you please reach out to us at “[email protected]” so we can sort this out ASAP?
