I can’t update plugins, themes or even WordPress itself.
Just get variations on the error: ‘Can’t resolve host ‘www.remarpro.com’

    Any ideas???

  • Contact your hosts. It sounds like they are blocking www.remarpro.com.

    That’s great, thanks @esmi

I was thinking it was probably a hosting thing, but thought I would check here first.

Well hostgator are blaming wordpress, lol….

(5:44:25pm)Timothy G.:Further checking on my end I’ve verified that the issue is with www.remarpro.com at this time and once their API is accessible you’ll be able to further proceed with the sites functionality from the backend.
(5:46:41pm)ryan:so it’s a wordpress issue and not a hosting issue?
    (5:47:05pm)Timothy G.:Yes, that is correct.

not my account by the way, trying to sort this for a friend.

It’s not wordpress though, I’ve just updated on another host. def hostgators problem.

Friends don’t let friends use cheap hosting!

I have the same issue, again with Hostgator. First time I have ever had a problem with them honestly. the other side is, I have 10 blogs all on 1 shared hosting account, and only one of the blogs is having this issue. all the rest are updating normally.

same situation here. I have other blogs hosted in hostgator and only one of them has problem upon automatic updating… hmmmp.. what are we gonna do now?

    Hi Guys

Go back to Hostgator and tell them when they upgraded the particular server your blog is hosted on, they forgot to update the php.ini file.

Just be persistent with them and tell them to get the techie guys to have a look rather than just running diagnostic tests as it won’t show up there.

If you tell them they have recently upgraded the server your blog is on, that should at least convince them you know what you are talking about!!

It took me a couple of days to get this sorted with them, but we got there in the end. When they had worked out what they’d missed it was only a few mins and everything was fine again. I hope you get your blogs back soon!!!

@jmpruitt – my apologies for not updating this thread sooner for you.

@pafoster: thanks dude. I am now chatting with a hostgator agent. ??

I had the same problem described in this post and contacted hostgator. HG tech support did change the php.ini file but still no resolution of the error, at least initially.

Later in my chat session with them, HG tech support suggested that I switch my theme back – from the commercial them I had activated – to either the Twenty Ten or Twenty Eleven default themes – and then re-try the update of core wp as well as my plug-ins. I was very skeptical, but voila – it worked. After the core and plugin upgrades, I switched back to the commercial theme to restore the sites’ normal appearance. All is well.

On the disparaging remark regarding HG above, I can report only positive interactions with HG and am pretty happy with the help I’ve received (and that’s unbiased – no, I don’t receive any money of any type from HG).

@gnarzilla. I chatted them and the agent wasnt able to fix the problem. He told me he already submitted a ticket for it and I will just wait a follow up email. In less than 24 hours they were able to fix the problem.

This worked for me as well using hostgator. ?? Didn’t even have to contact support thanks to this thread.

As suggested, I switched my theme back to Twenty Ten, installed ALL of the updates for WP and plug-ins, switched back to my normal template and everything worked GREAT! It took about 30 seconds! Thank you!

This work-around works great !! It took me this time like 20 seconds :p
Thanks @gnarzilla and the above comments.

I’ve been having this issue forever! Thanks for the thread, just switched over to my basic theme, updated everything and switched back! Less than a minute! Great job!
