Download button goes to download page instead

    Thanks for a great plugin!

    Everything works, except that clicking “Download Now” takes me to the page where the PDF was attached (as described in the tutorial video), and shows a link. Clicking that link results in the PDF showing up in the browser. So, technically, it’s working.

    But shouldn’t the Download button go immediately to the PDF, instead of opening yet another page and having the user find and click another link?

    I’ve been through the forums and re-watched the tutorial several times, I’m not sure what I’m missing.

    Clicking the “Download Now” button takes me to this page instead of downloading the document. The document can *then* be downloaded successfully by clicking the link, but I think visitors to the site will find that irritating.

    What URL value did you enter in the file download URL field of this item?

    The *upload* field (in the Edit Download post) is:

    https://tomleveen.com/?attachment_id=1176

    But on the Downloads page installed by the plugin, where it lists all the downloads I’ve created, the ID is listed as number 1175, not 1176.

    I don’t know if that is significant or not.

    The shortcode on the page is [sdm_download id=”1175″ fancy=”1″] where I manually changed the fancy score to 1.

    Thats wrong. That is the attachment URL (Not the actual file URL). Your “File URL” is the following:

    your-domain.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/5-things-you-should-do-after-your-book-sells.pdf

    So, enter that value in the download item configuration.

    That did it. Thank you very much!

    If you have time, I’d love to understand how you came to find that File URL so I can make it right next time. I manually changed it this time and got it to work, but I don’t understand where you found it or knew to use it.
