Not sure if it’s possible, but is a “Download All images” button possible to add?

This would make it excellent for a portal for clients to download all photos.

Also, is there a donate page? Would love to help out.

  • Hi, adding a download button is a feature we’ve been thinking about – here is a link to our GitHub issue tracking this request:

    https://github.com/skaut/skaut-google-drive-gallery/issues/81

Thanks for the feedback, reading about what users actually want is important to the further development.

As for the donations – we aren’t accepting donations personally as this plugin is developed as a team effort by the Czech scouting organization. However, if you would like to support our organization as a whole, we would really appreciate that. There is a donation form, unfortunately I don’t think you can select a currency different from the Czech koruna (1€ is approx. 26 CZK right now).

    Thank you!

No worries, that would be extremely useful thanks Marek for the development and reply.

The only other suggestion would be an option to be able to directly embed the album into the page. Currently when using the sgdg tag, it’ll embed it as a folder which then a user has to click to get to the gallery. It’s simple but so many clients get confused that it would be nice to have an option for the gallery to show up straight away.

I think with the following features (as per the github), it’d prove to be a very useful plugin for many.

    1) Download “all button”
    2) Download individual button when hovering over an image
    3) Option to embed an album directly rather than embedding a folder

    Thanks so much.

Hi, I think you misunderstood the shortcode a little – you can make it display the gallery directly using the path attribute. This should also be possible with the button in TinyMCE – you just select the directory you want to be displayed.

Thanks, you were correct. Had inserted a folder which had a child folder.

I know there is a todo list and priorities but was just wondering, is a download button actually feasible at all with Google API? Out of curiosity?

Was planning to build a client portal site but it will only be viable if a download individual images and or download all button is actually possible with Google’s Rest API. Cheers for all the work. It makes hosting so much easier!

    Hi,
from looking at the documentation of the Drive API, it seems to me that downloading an individual image should not be a problem. For downloading all images, however, the plugin would probably need to download them all, make a zip file and then let you download that – I’m afraid that could be a problem if you want to download a lot of images at once.

That’s just a look at the API though, haven’t tried implementing it yet…
