    Hi

I have the form working really well and talking to mailchimp, great plugin thanks…

The issue I have is when someone fills out the form and then chooses not to receive the newsletter. It still sends them a double opt-in email… Please confirm your subscription.

    MY SETUP
For my list in mailchimp I have created a merge field called GDPR with yes/no bullets. This is then showing correctly in Easy Form as a merge tag.
If someone ticks yes to receive the newsletter it shows in the Mailchimp list column under GDPR as YES, so I know they have opted in.

Is there a way to resolve the double opt-in if they have ticked no, or is my whole workflow wrong? Hope that all makes sense…

    Many thanks

    Hi @wordpressforumhelp,

I think there’s something wrong with your workflow but let’s discuss it.

If a user subscribers to your form but clicks “No” to receiving a newsletter, what do you expect to happen? Do you have other channels that they can subscribe to that aren’t the newsletter? If they subscribed to a different channel, how would you handle them in MailChimp?

For our plugin, any valid form submission will create a new subscriber in a list; there’s no way to dictate whether the subscriber is a non-newsletter subscriber. You can still segment your list in a certain way as to not send these subscribers newsletters, but they will need to confirm the double opt-in email to be a member on your list.

Hope that all makes sense. Get back to us when you can.

    Cheers,
    Kevin.

    Hi Kevin

I was being thick!!! (really thick)
All this GDPR has mashed my brain…

I’ve just taken off the NO bullet option on the form lol ??

Basically if you don’t want to subscribe to the Newsletter, don’t fill in your details…

Thanks for the quick response though…

    Have a great evening….

    Perfect ??

I know what you mean – all this GDPR stuff has had me thinking in circles recently too.

    Glad you’re good.

Hope you have a great evening as well!
