The issue can be found here: https://test.saugeenartists.ca/
It works with other themes: Yes
It works when I disable all other plugins: No
    Meta Slider version: 2.1

Seems to be an issue with my theme (and child theme) but when I insert the slider into the .php code of my index it takes up twice the size and shows two versions of the images with a loading icon in the middle. The loading icon doesn’t go away and the proper transitions only happen in the top image.

I’ve tried deactivating all of my other plug-ins and the problem still exists. I tried inserting the php shortcode thing in the Twenty Twelve theme and it works perfectly.

I’ve tried the other Meta Slider themes (FlexSlider, NivoSlider, etc.) and it happens with all of them, though some of them won’t show the double images and some of them the navigation is completely above the slider. When it doesn’t show the two images you can read the text under it but you can’t highlight it or click on links.

The theme I have active right now is the parent theme since that’s likely where the problem is. Any fixes you have I will implement in my child theme. Any help is appreciated!

  • Hi,

There don’t appear to be any images coming through in the slider HTML. So something in your theme (or plugins) must be stripping them out.

Without access to your site its impossible for me to say exactly what might be doing that, usually it would be down to another plugin – but you’ve said it still doesn’t work with other plugins. So there must be something in the theme that is stripping out the images – I’d suggest trying to contact your theme author if you’re not sure how to debug it (they’ll be in a better position to fix it than I am)

    Regards,
    Tom.

Thank you for your quick response! I know this would mean extra work for you but I do have two test profiles set up if you really wanted to have a look.

Could you give me an idea of what/where I could start looking for the code problem? I have delved into the php and css a bit so I might be able to find what’s wrong.

I will also try contacting the theme author.

    Hi Kormai,

The theme creator is really the best person to answer this.

If it was me I would:

    Disable all plugins
Start trying to work out what the differences between twenty twelve and your theme are (obviously your theme author would be able to answer this bit straight away – hence I suggest asking them first ??

    Regards
    Tom.

Unfortunately, the theme author doesn’t seem to answer support questions very much but at least I have a direction to go in on my own.

I will post again with information on whatever I figure out or decide to do and maybe it will help someone else.

Thank you again for your quick responses.
