    As you will see from the above URL, all of my AMP posts have two copies of each image. In the case of the Featured image (which is disabled), we have three copies. I am using Thrive Theme, and have latest versions of AMP as well as Yoast and WP.

    The issue is that each of your images is followed by a noscript element which contains an img element inside. The AMP plugin automatically unwraps noscript elements at the same time that it strips out scripts, so that the no-script behavior will provide fallback behavior.

    In addition to the whole page being hidden, if I remove the hidden styling, then I see duplicated images there as well. So I don’t think there is a problem specifically with AMP here, but rather you’re using a theme or plugin that does not gracefully degrade when JS is turned off.
