double emails for same order

    its been around 2 weeks the system is sending out two double emails to vendors and customer given any payment method.

    The system is sending out two emails to customers, one with the full order, and one with one or two items only from the order. vendors are getting two different emails with two order numbers from the same order.

    we are on the latest copies of woocomemrce, and PHP.
    its worth mentioning:

    1- transactional emails get sent from a dedicated smtp server for those, and the team emails are sent from the domain smtp.
    2- tried the plugins, theme change. it didnt work.
    3- copied the site to a staging copy, this doesnt happen on the staging copy.
    we use wp mail smtp which shows the logs.

    Please advise.

    Are you using the same dedicated SMTP server there as well?

    I’m asking because most similar threads with the same problem were using WP Mail SMTP: by WPForms – 3.1.0.

    It could be just a coincidence as WP Mail is a very popular plugin.

    Nonetheless, can you please deactivate the plugin and rely on your host’s email functionality?

    the email on the staging copy is not configured. its just logging the emails without sending them. I deactivated the WP Mail SMTP: by WPForms – 3.1.0. as we are using it, but this wasn’t happening before even with this plugin installed.

    we started seeing this when we split the transactional emails to dedicated service, instead of our domain email server.

    the same still happens. problem is that it sends two orders to everyone. each with a different order number

    Can you please check any differences between the live site and the staging site as you’ve mentioned above that the duplicate email is not happening on the staging site? This could be a good starting point.

    If you could also provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs, that would help us further troubleshoot.
