Don’t want certain pages to chow in top menu bar

I use wordpress 4.6.1 Thesis 2.2.3 theme. I have some pages showing at the top of the menu bar that I don’t want listed there. Instead I plan to link them in a sitemap. I am not sure where to turn them off so they don’t show at the top of my page. I thought using the Private option instead of public might do it but obviously that’s not it.
