• The developers behind “Gutenberg” forgot the most basic principle of programming which is “Don’t try to fix what’s not broken”. Seriously, who told you that the text editor of WordPress needs a complete revamp? Slight improvements can always be made but a complete revamp seriously (especially when most WordPress users are non/semi techies who don’t like complexities)?

The plugin makes editing way more difficult as compared the to the previous text editor. Highly not recommended.

  • The old text editor was a true nightmare for developers to deal with. People would break code all the time with it. It did need a revamp. Just not with this woefully non-performant abomination.

If you have a moment to explain a bit more, may I ask what you’re finding makes editing more difficult as compared the to the previous text editor? What kind of work do you do using WordPress and what type of content do you typically write?

In fact, old editor had a problem for dynamic change in layouts, BUT we all know what ACF is, right? ACF was the solution for developers who needed to create flexible layouts. Gutenberg is a really bad idea

Its outright horrible and confusing (specially to non-techie writers). Everyone is familiar with MS Word sort of text editors in this age and that’s why everyone expects a MS Word like experience. Forcing this new blocks/toolbar-less/pop-up heaving approach sucks. And, yes MOST people share this opinion of mine (which is evident from the ratings).

P.S. Just go through the comments in 5-star reviews. A lot of people mistakenly didn’t enter the rating and the default 5 stars got selected. Many 5 star reviews are accidental and also hate guttenberg.
