• This plugin bites. They add their own strange watermark to your uploaded images and screw with your actual media files. They add all your products as to a group invisible to woocommerce. They add a hidden SKU number to products added in bulk. Basically, unless you pay them, this plugin is not only useless, but detrimental to your work flow. This plugin should not be at www.remarpro.com, they have crippled this free version to the degree it breaks your products.

If you want to purchase the plugin they are actually trying to sell you, be my guest, but I don’t hold out a lot of good will towards a company that treats the base user this way.

  • I was about to enter a review similar to this one. This is just a plain useless ugly plugin that adds watermark to your uploaded images. Advice is not to use this plugin!!

    @ramedia & @marcoevich we’re sorry to hear you’re unhappy with our Plugin.

For others who read this review @ramedia may be confused about the watermark feature: a watermark is applied to photo’s uploaded through BPTPI, only, and is not applied to the original image, which is delivered to the customer upon purchase.

It can be replaced or removed in the free version if you choose to do so but we built a Setting for this in the Premium version because none of our Users contribute to the development of the free version.

Regarding the “invisible products”, I believe you’re referring to the fact that since WooCommerce did not support Variations at the time we developed this Plugin a little over a year ago, WooCommerce required that each BPTPI Variation be created as an individual Product. We found that this cluttered the Products page so we created an optional Setting that allows Users to show or hide them.

As for the hidden SKU, I don’t know what you’re referring to so you’ll need to clarify about that.

In the future, @ramedia @marcoevich, reporting issues you’re experiencing in our forums and requesting support will get you answers to these types of concerns you’ve expressed.

It’s disappointing and frustrating to us when people just complain without reading documentation, exploring settings, or asking for clarification. We mention on the WordPress Plugins directory page, our website and even in the Plugin itself that we’re available for support via forums, email and even telephone sometimes on M-F 8-4PM Pacific Standard time.

I’m not confused. Change your plugin so the free version doesn’t put a watermark on the images, doesn’t add a SKU number (Try uninstalling it and view the remaning products), and properly interacts with the current version of WooCommerce and I’ll come back here and retract my original post. You want to move people to the pay version…fine… limit the amount of products you can use with the free. All I ask is you don’t put up a plugin here, that is totally useless to everyone, a broken version, and call it a wordpress plugin. It is not. It is a piece of software that is just a stepping stone to your pay software. Don’t waste people’s time. WordPress is free and open source. Most of the plugins for it are free and open source. You want to make some money off all those people’s backs… play by the rules. Offer something of value to the community, and charge for >extra< value.

    Hi @ramedia,

If we removed the watermark customers would complain about the fact it doesn’t have one. We found that the vast majority of photographers wanted the watermark automatically added and that’s why we’ve done it. And for those, like yourself, that don’t want it you can manually remove it or replace it.

As we requested before, can you provide more details about the SKU issue, this is something we’re unclear about. Providing a step by step to repeat the issue or a screenshot showing the result would help us troubleshoot it.

We cannot limit the amount of products Users can add, that’s considered crippleware and is against WordPress policies. We’re offering additional features in the Premium version rather than crippling or breaking anything in Free.

We’re sorry to hear you feel our free version is completely useless.

If you don’t like something about this Plugin you’re welcome to contribute a solution or help fund it if you lack the skills required to build or contribute to this Plugin that is provide freely to you.

Anyone giving this plugin more than one star is most likely a sock puppet created by the author!

“If we removed the watermark customers would complain about the fact it doesn’t have one.”

Fine. That’s the “customers.” I don’t think anyone using this plugin as provided here is begging for you to keep your generic watermark you slap on their images.

I can engage with you until the end of time. Keep coming back. See everyone what you’ll be dealing with if you work with these people. You don’t agree with their methods… you must be “confused”, ‘lacking in skills’, ‘incapable of reading’ and all the other passive aggressive crap these guys are throwing my way.

“You can upload your own custom image that is dynamically embedded onto your images as a watermark prior to purchase. (Available in paid version only)”

… what they don’t mention is that if you don’t have the paid version, and upload your photos using this plugin, the plugin stamps your image with a generic watermark. Now the plugin author is suggesting you rewrite their core code so it doesn’t do this, or retrieve all the images and replace them with your own (defeating the purpose of using the software in the first place).

Let’s have it. Tell the good people downloading the plugin in the free version, if it is even usable as the free version. I’d say stamping all their images with a watermark they don’t need or want is pretty much crippling the free version, not to mention the limited product you can create. You made your decision when you put forth this crippleware you call a plugin, now live with the results.

As far as the SKU’s being generated by the software. I don’t have your plugin installed anymore so I can’t walk you through a recreation of your bug. Normally I’d be happy to help, but you don’t deserve my time. I’m only here to help future potential users from not wasting their time.

@ramedia, I hope you don’t speak this was to other people. You’re words are offensive and disrespectful toward myself and my staff.

You’re insulting and badgering us while we’re trying to explain the available solutions and troubleshoot the issue you’re experiencing with the SKU’s.

If you love the open source community then shouldn’t you respect and, maybe, show gratitude to those of us who are working to provide YOU a FREE Plugin?

Your 1 star review, posted without requesting any support in the first place, is damaging to the continued development. And your words are painful to read and especially difficult to respond back to politely.

If you want something for free, ask politely. If you don’t get it, please don’t verbally abuse the other party but consider providing a solution, resources or just paying for a Plugin that’s sole purpose is to help YOU make money.

I hope you’ll consider re-reviewing our Plugin with a review that reflects it better than what yours currently does.

An SKU is infact being generated by this plugin still to this day
it creates a duplicate product it hides from us users along with added SKU and only shows upon the plugins uninstall
i find this EXTREMELY suspicious due to the denials of the existance of the added SKU in the comments above
WHAT ELSE DOES THIS PLUGIN SECRETLY ADD TO OUR SITES?
strangely enough after installing your plugin i have lost access to backup buddy upon my installation and this is what lead me to uninstall your product and find the above LIE trying to cover the true facts of your shady workings here
made shady due to your public denial of what i have found to infact be true
as can be seen in the screenshot below

    https://www.diigo.com/item/image/55xy9/rvqd

i think someone moderators or what not should look into this plugin and what else may be hidden from its free users
the above speaks volumes as to the trustworthiness of the developers own words

I’m sorry to hear you have any concerns about my staff and I lying to you or performing secret activities on your website through our Plugin. If you had simply contacted us before posting here we would have been happy to address your concerns as we’ve done with hundreds of customers through our public forums: https://www.theportlandcompany.com/forums

First and foremost, our Plugin does not exploit the security and privacy of it’s users and their websites in any way.

Secondly, every Plugin in the WordPress directory is manually reviewed by WordPress staff, independent from myself and our staff, such as @ipstenu to ensure – specifically – that developers aren’t planting code that exploits peoples privacy. So even if it was it would be banned.

Third, regarding the SKU, as I mentioned to @ramedia I wasn’t clear as to what they were talking about and was happy to address the concern if some specific’s could be provided. Your response is acting like I told @ramedia that our software doesn’t add an SKU and that it somehow is a malicious act. Which doesn’t make sense anyway, but whatever.

I have seen your screenshot, and am aware that the products have an SKU. But I don’t understand why this is a problem? If you can explain then we’d be happy to address your concerns further and modify how the Plugin operates if sufficient reasoning can be established for removing the SKU.

Fourth and final; as was mentioned to @ramedia you are speaking about, and talking to, real people.

We’re not a secret agency or giant corporation. We’re a small internet marketing firm based in Portland, Oregon, USA with a few contract developers, designers and server administrators.

So the next time you feel the need to call someone out on claims of malicious secret activity; approach them directly first so as not to make a fool of yourself or pointlessly challenge or try to tarnish the reputation of people who have provided you the result of their time for free.

If you have any other concerns you’re welcome to post them in our public forums so we can assist you.

Oh, as for the products being duplicated, it’s not exactly duplicating. It’s creating a Grouped Product, and a Simple Product beneath those for each Variation you have. There is an option in Settings to show or hide the sub products.

We took a look through the top reviews, they are not sock puppets (fake accounts).

Just because someone disagrees with you does not mean that they’re being fraudulent, that’s why we have a review system.

If you had a bad experience, that’s fine, and thanks for sharing, but it doesn’t mean that others can’t possibly find a use for the plugin.

I’d also like to remind folks stopping by that this thread is a *review*. The *support* forums for this plugin can be found at https://www.theportlandcompany.com/forums/forum/bulk-photo-product-importer-extension-woocommerce-wordpress-plugin/
