I like the plugin a lot, but can I say I don’t like the new user interface? With the old interface I only needed to scroll through one settings page, change a few checkboxes, add my e-mailadres, change the number of max wrong login attempts and that’s that. With all those accordions it takes much much longer. Also, and I don’t know if this is caused by the font or the way the elements of the page are all divided with lines or that it is something else, but scanning the page for what I’m looking for is not easy. At least that is my experience. I would love to have a button ‘Classic style’. Simpler is better than fancier ;). At least imho.

  • Yup – most people I know who use WF love the plug-in, but literally hate the new interface. Maybe WF hired some amateur UI/UX hacks who opted for looks over function….

While they have tossed out a few morsels to improve usability a bit since they launched this “improved” (note the quotes) layout, it doesn’t look like they’re going to change the interface much more though, unfortunately.

Agree, the new UI is really bad, I wish people who designed it had at least basic knowledge of UX/usability concepts.

The new UI is bad and not suitable for admin usage, we all know this but we should also understand that Wordfence might have spent lots of money and resources in developing that UI, so they can’t just ditch the new UI. I’m sure they’ll keep it in future but keep improving it as they are doing with every version update.

    Hi,

Thanks @moxie and everyone for the feedback, we would appreciate and welcome any feedback messages to be sent to “feedback [at] wordfence [dot] com”, your opinions matter and your suggestions/feature requests are considered seriously.

@moxie did you get a chance to try the (Wordfence > All Options) page? it has a new search feature as well, making it very easy to reach to certain options block immediately.

    Thanks.

    Hi wfalaa,

Yes I know the search option, but that even takes more time to set all the options in Wordfence the way I like or need it. The way it works now really is very awkward. You can’t just scroll and scan the page for the options you would like to check or uncheck. To make a comparison with user instructions on paper, it looks like the settings have gone from all settings on one A4 paper into 20 different pages, all hidden in envelopes that have to be opened first. I would really like to have the old settings page back :).

    Hi @moxie!
There is an “Expand all” button you can click that folds out all sections at once. Then you can either just scroll or use your browsers search function to locate sections if you don’t like the custom search function we added to the options page.

Again thanks to everyone for their feedback, it’s noted. Resolving this thread for now. Have a great week!
