Don't have sufficient privileges to install new plugins or update wordpress

  • Hi,
    I updated wp and now the link to add new plugins is gone. I tried manually going to mydomain.com/wp-admin/plugin-install.php and all it says is
    You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.

    I tried manually updating wordpress but that still didn’t work. i tried disabling all my plugins and that didnt work. i tried creating a new administrator user and that didn’t work either

  • Have you tried:

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

    – increasing the memory available to PHP?

    -tried that, no luck

    -FTP didn’t do it. Couldn’t quite figure out the way thru phpmyadmin. I got all the way to the active_plugins field but couldnt find a way to change the value

    -Tried that

    -still nothing.

    maybe a problem with my database?

    Try re-running the upgrade manually using /wp-admin/upgrade.php.

    it says its up to date and just give me an option to continue. i tried reuploading a fresh install of wordpress again and still no avail
