Don’t get “Account Activated Awaiting Approval” message

I have a BuddyBoss website that uses the BuddyBoss registration and login functionalities.

I was formerly using “New User Approve” plugin by WPExpertsio but the activation link in the email that registrants receive goes straight to a login page, without any reinforcing message stating they must wait for admin approval before signing in. Even though the activation email says “please wait for admin approval before signing in”, my registrants haven’t been reading the message. So they try to log in immediately and can’t get in because there is no time for me to approve their registration.

I thought your plugin would resolve the issue. Your screenshot shows a message in a green box “Your account has been activated.” and a message in a pink box “Your membership account is awaiting approval by the site administrator…”

I deactivated the “New User Approve” plugin and cleared the cache for the entire site as well as my browser before trying out your plugin. But when I clicked the activation link in my email, I got no such message. Just the same old login page as if the registrant could easily login in immediately upon activation without waiting for admin approval at all.

Please advise me on how to fix this! I would love for it to work as you have demonstrated. I would be ever so grateful for your assistance with this.
