• This plugin has many features which is really great, but the core features are all hidden as “pro-features” which means you cannot test them at all.

Both the widget as well as the text switch that is supposed to allow users to switch from light to dark mode on the front of your website is disabled and available as a “pro-feature” only. I can understand that the widget will be a “pro-feature”, but why is the text switch a “pro-feature” as well? This negates the purpose of this plugin.

It also does not seem that this plugin is OS or even browser aware… Maybe another “pro-feature”? All my browsers are setup in dark mode, but with the plugin enabled, it did not switch to dark mode a automatically at all. This also negates the purpose of this plugin.

Don’t make a mistake; I have no issue against paying for features, but when the very purpose of the plugin is to pay first, then why have a free version out there at all?

    Hi @nvisagie

I hope you are doing great. First of all we are very sorry that our plugin couldn’t meet your requirements/expectations, however let me promise you – we are trying our best to give our users a delightful experience, right from the free version.

First of all, the two switches you talk about, aren’t disabled at all. You can choose the moon icon and the textual button (light/dark) right from the free version. The first two buttons are included in the free version. https://imgur.com/a/t8szcRu and the first icon is enabled by default. You might have chosen the button beside and saw the buying pop-up.

    To quote you

I would love if you take a second look because both of your issues seem to be very unique. As both of them are available in free version. I would love if you check our plugin on a fresh WordPress installation and I’m sure this wouldn’t happen.

    On your second query,

It also does not seem that this plugin is OS or even browser aware… Maybe another “pro-feature”? All my browsers are setup in dark mode, but with the plugin enabled, it did not switch to dark mode a automatically at all.

This also seems a slight misunderstanding from your end. The plugin is in fact OS AND BROWSER AWARE. However, sometimes the themes are coded in a way that our algorithm cannot switch it to the dark mode. But I can confirm, the feature is included in the free version and it is turned on by default as well when you install the plugin.

You can test the feature on our test website where we have only enabled the free version of the plugin at wpdark.wppool.dev

Here’s a video that’s showing the plugin is fully aware of iPhone’s Native DARK Mode and responding to it https://imgur.com/a/dBWtofH

Last of all, I’d like you to check out this featured post on WPBeginner (One of the most trusted source for WordPress tutorials) where they have explored the same features as you and actually used the free features to write the review.

I apologize if the plugin didn’t meet your expectations, however, the features you talked about ARE INDEED IN FREE VERSION of the plugin. We only included advanced customizations on the pro side of the plugins.

I’d love to hear you out. We’re always here to solve your issues. Customer satisfaction is our #1 priority.
