Donator List not working

The Donator List shortcode only results in saying no donations have been made, even though some have.
I have seen some posts indicating it is possibly related to IPN. However, if IPN was not working, then how did PayPal site tell my WP site how much was donated? The amount donated is reflected properly. This causes me to lean toward thinking it is something else.
I welcome any input on this. Thank you!
