• Donations are not being recorded under the transactions, donors and reports section. All show as failed, however the donations have been received. I have tried enabling “Disable PayPal IPN Verification” but that does not work either. All donations received require me to accept them via PayPal. What can I do to get this working correctly?

    Hi Chuck,

I haven’t had any customers reporting full failure of all donations with PayPal Standard ever since we’ve launched. You’ve made me supremely curious.

Can you please go to “Donations > Settings” then the System Info tab, paste all that information into a Gist or somewhere public (so you can remove it later) so I can see your system information to see if there are any clues there?

    Thanks for the link.

The only things that stand out to me are potentially:

    1) Try disabling WordFence just to test. That shouldn’t be it, but part of WordFence’s job is to stop communication between your site and outside suspicious activity, so if they flagged the communication as suspicious that might be the problem.

    2) Hide my WP could be another culprit. Perhaps We’re expecting the response in a specific url which we’re not getting properly because of that plugin.

    3) Can you also check with your host on whether OpenSSL is enabled and updated? I know you’re not using SSL, but that’s not required for the OpenSSL module to be enabled and this communication does happen over SSL.

Let me know on those items and we’ll go from there.

    OpenSSL is enabled

I added the ips for the paypal ipn to Wordfence.
    Disabled hmwp

Really strange. Here’s a couple more items:

    1) In your root there should be a php error log, check that out to see if there’s anything that look relevant to PayPal or Give.

    2) Same thing in the Give logs. Go to “Donations > Reports” then the Logs tab. Then at the top left of that screen there’s a scrolldown that says “Donations”. Choose “Payment Errors”. Let me know if there’s anything there.

    3) Contact PayPal support and ask them if they have any insight at all. Their support has improved quite a bit over the last year and several of our Give users have received quality support from them.

Let me know how that goes.

Okay, After a week back and forth with paypal.com they have confirmed the information is being sent back to the site correctly however the plugin is not working properly. Nothing gets marked as complete, they are marked as failed. I have to mark them as complete when they come in. What is the next step to fixing this?

Payment Gateways like PayPal and others are upping their server requirements in general. Please try this plugin to test your environment for whether it is TLS 1.2 compatible:

Let me know what that indicates.

TLS 1.2 Enabled and all functions passed.

Hmm… that’s really strange. Contact us via https://givewp.com/contact-us so I can follow-up on this there.
