Domain Mapping non www. to www. wordpress.com etc!

  • This may look like similar posts but to my knowledge its not, plese read carefully:

    Ok.. so I used to have a wordpress.com blog titled misanthropytoday.wordpress.com
    (in fact, i still do).

    Anyhow, I purchased the domain mapping feature and then it was https://misanthropytoday.com
    .

    Just recently I decided to move over to www.remarpro.com and transferred everything over and installed all smooth. Then i noticed that my URL was https://www.misanthropytoday.com
    but when I typed in without www. it took me to my old blog ?! I’ve tried a few .htaccess things and its making my life miserable.

    Many people still link to me using that one and i want to:
    1) have my new blog (currently at www.) appear whether someone types www or not

    I’m guessing this has something to do with .COM’s domain mapping but I think it would be easy since my DNS is no longer pointed at wordpress.

    Someone please help. I just harouken punched my dog over this.

  • umm, so we are clear, this is confusing. Why is https://misanthropytoday.com redirecting me to https://www.misnthropytoday.com/

    notice the names are different?

    misnthropytoday.com
    misanthropytoday.com

    Is that something that you typo’d maybe in the wordpress.com settings or your .htaccess? (just a stab in the dark)

    its trivial to redirect non-www urls to the other but you have to use the right domain name ??

    and Im sorry, but what usefulness is there to a tag titled “harouken punch” ?? what can that possibly add to the searchability of the forum?

    There’s nothing pointing back to wordpress.com that would cause what your seeing. Fix the typo in your htaccess solution and you ought to be good to go.

    i fixed the error but still, nothing has changed.

    well whatever you are doing, you have typo’d something.
