• Resolved alingham

    (@alingham)

    Hi all

Need a bit of help / reassurance.

I have WordPress multisite set up with multiple sites with subdomains as their URL. unleash.alingham.com, havengrove.alingham.com, and of course, alingham.com

However, I have recently purchased unleasheducation.co.nz and want to point this to the unleash.alingham.com multi site…

I have done this by pointing the domain to cloudflare through the nameservers, and then pointing cloudflare at the IP of the alingham.com server.
I believe this is what is required.

However, regardless of whatever settings I have tried, and countless cache refreshes, unleasheducation.co.nz keeps showing me to “cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi”

    Help!

Please let me know any further information you require to troubleshoot my problem. I am secretly hoping I just have to wait a little bit longer… but at the same time, I’ve been waiting since yesterday for this to come through, and still nothing. I’d hate to still be waiting in a week’s time and find out it’s some setting I haven’t done right!

    Cheers

    Al.

  • Hi,
If you are using a shared/vps/dedicated web hosting package with cPanel installed, you need to add the new domain under Aliases. Or if you are using a custom configured server, you need to add the new domain to the nginx/apache configuration file.

Also on cloudflare, instead of pointing the domain to an IP address, create a cname record with the following details:
    @ unleash.alingham.com

This should solve the default page problem.

Let me know if you still face the same problem after the above changes are made.
    Happy to help!

    Good day.
