Domain expired, is my site gone?

    Hi everyone, this is my first post here, I hope it is appropriate.

    I used to have my website running WordPress, but the domain expired. Now the website does not exist anymore, and I don’t even have access to my files.

    I do not remember or understand which provider was hosting my files.

    All I know is that I used to receive mails to my admin email saying “

    Your site has updated to WordPress 5.3.4

    This suggests that the company I used for the domain name was also the one running the site itself.

    Do you know if there is a way to get my files back?

    I tried renewing my domain but it has been stolen by a Chinese company in the meantime ??

    WordPress sites are entirely self-contained, we have no more access to your site than any normal visitor (nor do we want any more than that), so we have no way of knowing who your hosting provider was.

    I recommend looking through your credit card statements. A hosting provider is someone you pay either monthly or annually, so there should be some clues in there.

It appears that your domain, patricianagle.com, was previously hosted by OVH SAS and GoDaddy before it ended up with the current Chinese hosting company.

    I recommend reaching out to both OVH SAS and GoDaddy to inquire about the status of your hosting accounts and whether they still have your web and database files. They might be able to provide assistance in recovering your data. Please provide them with as much information as possible, such as the timeframe when your website was hosted with them and any other relevant details.
