    Yep, but I was away on a family emergency. I’ll test it out and see what the issue might be.

    Hi David. I just wanted to let you know we’re having the same problem. Thank you for looking into it and letting us know what you find. Best regards.

    hi. do you have news?
    i have 2 wordpress site, andh this plugin work only in one site with the same configuration.

    can you help me?

    It works on my machine and on a test site I use. Could you please let me know what steps/settings you’re using that cause it to break?

    Thanks!

    –David

    We have been using this plugin for quite a long time and it always worked until this last week when our host automatically upgraded to WordPress 4.3 for us. Suddenly, we found that we could see the home page even when we were logged out. None of the settings have been changed since it worked.

    The only boxes checked on the Private Site settings page are:

    *the one to enable the plugin;
    *the one to reveal the User Registration page (recommended);
    *the one to say landing location (Site Home) applies with wp-login.php;
    *the one that says “Check Custom Login URL” (recommended);

    All of the other settings and checkboxes are blank except the radio button that says to go to Site Home after login.

    Thank you for any help you can provide.

    Hello! Thank you for all your work on this issue ??

    I’m having the same problem. I have not used this plugin before. I upgraded my wordpress site to 4.3.1, then installed the plugin, activated it, clicked the checkbox to turn the plugin on. I have not yet seen any change in access to the site’s pages, the site is behaving the same as it was before installing the plugin. Here are the included names & descriptions of the checkboxes I currently have checked:

    Private Site: (This plugin is currently enabled; click checkbox to disable)

    Reveal Registration Page: Do not block WordPress standard User Registration page (Advanced Setting: a check mark in this checkbox is recommended)

    Where to after Login?: Return to same URL

    Check Custom Login URL?: URL must begin with https://sitename.com/ (Advanced Setting: a check mark in this checkbox is recommended)

    // Thanks so much!

    I tested this with each of the WordPress standard themes and it seems to work fine. In my case, I did a fresh install and simply enabled the plugin with the rest of the settings as default, and it just worked.

    Not sure if there’s any other variation that might cause the issue. Do be aware that for My Private Site to seem to work, you have to be logged out (otherwise, you’re the one it’s designed to let in).

    My method of testing is to open an incognito window, drop in the main URL of the site, and see if it puts up a login dialog rather than the home page.

    This isn’t working for me either. I installed it, enabled it. Then opened the site up in another browser where I wasn’t logged in and I can see the site.

    I’ve tested in Chrome, IE, Firefox, and Safari. What browser, platform, and version are you using?

    Hi David,

    I was having the same problem, but I found when I switched themes the plugin started working as expected.

    I’ve experimented using Chromium, Chrome, Firefox, Konqueror & Rekonq.

    I have an additional variable in play, which is that I’m using a free, unsigned dreamhost ssl cert, and I found that depending on which theme I used, in addition to your plugin working or not, http would forward to the base WP url, which uses https, or not.

    (I’ve since installed the “Easy HTTPS (SSL) Redirection” plugin to cover my bases)

    The misbehaving theme in both cases was the minimalist “less”, which I was looking forward to using, but when I switched to Twenty Fifteen, everything worked as expected.

    Any idea what might be causing the problem in some themes and not others?

    Thanks!

    (sorry, I’m using Kubuntu 15.04)

    The gotcha with themes is that they can modify pretty much everything on a site, so it’s very difficult to guess from one theme to another what makes them behave a certain way. For example, take Divi vs. Twenty Fifteen. They are radically different beasts and make WordPress perform in pretty wildly different ways.

    I always go back to the basic shipped-with-WP themes and test there, first. Then, if everything works, I add a theme and see if that behavior changes things.

    Now, I am not explicitly supporting https, so there is a possibility that if your site is set to default to https, there could be some issues.

    Okay, thanks.

    Just FYI, no problems so far with the https plugin and the twenty fifteen theme.

    Hi David,

    Your plugin is very nice and I use it for our Car Club Site. https://www.headwatersbritishcarclub.org

    I have been asked to create another website for a Free Business Networking Group. I am using the same settings, but it is not hiding the pages. The theme being used is ColorMag. I tried it with 2015 and it is still showing the page page that should be hidden. https://www.freenetworkinggroup.com The page I want to hide is the membership directory.

    I hope you can be of help with this.

    Sincerely,
    Angela
