• Maybe it gets messed up by Divi, but the categories don’t get carried over into the Add FAQ screen. You have to enter a new category every time you add a FAQ. Also, I can’t find a place to copy the short code. The way it works it is less than useless.

    Hi @rorygoff

Thanks for your comments. FAQ Concertina uses a custom taxonomy for categories. If you start typing the first few letters of the category any matching categories should appear in a dropdown for you to select.

You’re right, there isn’t a place to copy the shortcode. I guess you’re expecting something like the way Contact Form 7 does it. That doesn’t really make sense in this context as, unlike Contact Form 7, there are no required parameters (CF7 requires the ‘id’ parameter, for example).

If using categories then you also need to put the category slug in yourself. There’s no way for FAQ Concertina to know what category you want to use when adding the shortcode to a page or post.

For your convenience I’ve given you the shortcodes so you can copy them from here.

For a listing of all FAQs (i.e. no categories):

    [faq-concertina]

    To list FAQs by category:

    [faq-concertina category="insert-your-category-slug-here"]

Apart from these minor shortcomings that you find in the editing experience could you elaborate in what way the plugin “doesn’t work right” please. Is it otherwise functioning as you would expect?

Thanks once again for your comments. It’s always disappointing to receive a bad review and a one star rating, especially when all the other reviewers have been so positive about my plugin.

Lots of plug-ins provide the shortcode in a way that it can be copied. It’s not a feature that you don’t.

The dropdown of categories does not happen when adding a FAQ. I have to type in the entire category name and if I make a mistake in typing, then I have a new category.

I am trying to build a website in which a non-computer person can add/edit FAQs. Your plug-in is too complicated in its execution of the add/edit functions. That’s what I meant by “it doesn’t work right”. Make it easy for people and they will use your product.

    Thanks for that clarification @rorygoff.

I’ve created an issue (https://github.com/mburridge/faq-concertina/issues/7) to address the matter of having a place to copy the shortcode in a future update. Thanks for the suggestion.
