Doesn't work out of the box

  • After install, it said this, so not user friendly:
    The MaxMind GeoIP database does not exist. Please download this file manually or if you wish to use the GeoIP API get an API key from: https://geoip.webence.nl/
    Please download the database from: https://geolite.maxmind.com/download/geoip/database/GeoLiteCountry/GeoIP.dat.gz unzip the file and afterwards upload it to the following location: /home/content/24/9036524/html/wp-content/uploads/GeoIP.dat
    If you also use IPv6 please also download the database from: https://geolite.maxmind.com/download/geoip/database/GeoIPv6.dat.gz unzip the file and afterwards upload it to the following location: /home/content/24/9036524/html/wp-content/uploads/GeoIPv6.dat

    So then I went to the instructions, tried them, then got this after uploading:
    “GeoIPv6.dat” has failed to upload due to an error
    Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.

    On top of that, when I did get this working, it only allows you to “block countries” rather than “allow countries” i.e. just allow the U.S. and block all others. There are over 200 countries… I don’t wanna have to add 200 countries!
