• (As the previous reviewer said) this plugin is of no use.
Anyhow even if it may be working on your hosting there a thing you must consider: the block doesn’t prevent a server load. This means that your hosting still gets all the traffic from blocked countries.

However, a free CDN account (CloudFlare, Incapsula, etc) supports country blocking so this means that it’s way better than using the plugin because the block occurs before your website gets hit (you avoid all that traffic). Also you can block bad bots and any search engines you wish (do you really need Russian and Chinese search engines making hundreds of page loads per day? Btw: Analytics doesn’t show search engine traffic so we just don’t know how much load the bots really put on our website. P.S. CDN will show you all this data with ability to block any abusive search bot or IP. My hosting provider says that the traffic dropped by 80%.)

I ditched the plugin and registered a free CDN account and I’m never going back to any blocking plugins. The CDN is my traffic and security manager and it does the job just perfectly.

  • CloudFlare say they don’t have a full block service but Incapsula seem better. Which one do you use? I’m also curious how you use them as traffic and security manager. Do you host your site elsewhere?
