Doesn't work as expected
-
Didn’t work consistently for us. Seems to be a well made and maintained plugin, support was good – just didn’t do what we wanted.
Thank you

Hi Daf,
As you said, only Headlines feed it not fetching feed items and rest all are working fine. This is because you already have the Entertainment, Sports, Politics feeds configured ( all from the same news site ) and they are fetching and importing the items just fine.
When I checked the Headlines feed, I found that it had 7 items inside it, which were already imported by other feed sources. Headlines is nothing but a sub-set of main news from all the news categories. Therefore our plugin is not creating duplicate posts when it has already found that the same post has been imported before.
Let me know if you have any doubts or queries!

Chirag SwadiaHi Chirag – I keep bringing this up and it’s not addressed. If I have the Unique Titles Only UNCHECKED – which I do – it should be importing. The other aggregators do so. I have since removed all other feeds from WP RSS Aggregator and it still won’t fetch or create posts. If I disable FeedtoPost it will fetch but of course no posts are created. Sorry for the bad review but this plugin does not work as expected or even as well (with multiple feeds) any of the other free plugs. It was a waste of money for us. I strongly suggest that people demo this on their site before buying.
Thanks
Hi Daf,
I had tried to login to your website last week, once you said that you had ‘Unique titles only’ unchecked. But I guess, by then you had revoked our access to your website.
I have the same ABC Headlines news feed configured on my local setup and it is importing posts without any issue. So it is strange that it was not working on your website. I am not sure whether you tried the same feed at our demo site.

ChiragHi,
Please note that WP RSS Aggregator will only import unique items, regardless of any settings. An item is considered to be unique if no item with it’s permalink exists anywhere in the system. The items’ permalink in the feed is defined by the
<link>
tag, or the<guid>
tag if it’sisPermaLink
attribute is set totrue
. Once imported, the permalink is stored in thewprss_item_permalink
custom field of the resulting posts. Hence, if, for example, you have a post with thewprss_item_permalink
set to this URL, WP RSS Aggregator will not import another item which has that permalink. This behaviour is desired almost universally, and I believe that this is what is going on in your setup. If this is so, it means that the system is working well and as expected. Please consider changing your review and rating.
This behaviour is desired almost universally
“Almost” is the key word is our situation I guess.
I did not say the plugin didn’t work – I said it did not work consistently for us. While I would not change the rating based on this conversation, I would be open to deleting the review altogether. I do not see a way to do so. If that is possible please let me know how.
We may give WP RSS Aggregator another chance in the future. We simply can’t waste any more time with it at this point when 2 of the free plugins are doing exactly what we need them to do.
Thank you for the explanations and support.
Adjusted my rating and initial review as I may have been a bit unfair. I do appreciate the support and will give WP RSS Aggregator another shot in the future.
Thank you
Thank you for reconsidering your rating.
Please note that if it was possible to disable this behaviour, each import would result in duplicate posts being created. Would you mind giving a brief explanation on exactly how you would prefer the plugin to behave?
We bring in both individual feeds (national news, entertainment, business, etc…) and send them to individual categories for display on our site – as well as a “top stories” feed. This last feed is a combination of the top stories in each of the other feeds and we use it to feed out Roster Slider. The slider is set to rotate a particular WP category. So you see I need to have an aggregator that will create posts in a category for that Top Stories feed – as well as create the posts to populate the other individual news categories.
I hope I explained that clearly.
Thanks
Daf
