Doesn’t work

Thank you for using the Editorial Calendar. I’m sorry you’re having trouble with it.

So let me see if I understand the problem. When you use the standard WordPress edit screen and schedule a post for some time in the future it publishes correctly, but when you do it from the calendar it doesn’t publish. Is that correct?

When you schedule a post in the calendar and then look at the post in the standard WordPress edit screen does it have the correct scheduled date?

Do you have any other plugins installed that change post dates? We’ve seen some issues with conflicts when using plugins that change post schedules.

Hey Zack, sorry, I thought you were not supporting the plugin anymore, that’s why I didn’t start by leaving a post in the support forums.

The date is correct but the status of the post is still draft:

Status: Draft
Visibility: Public
Schedule for: Dec 29, 2017 @ 14:52

So, it seems that the fact the status is not changed from Draft to Scheduled is blocking the publishing. I guess.

As far as I know I don’t use any other plugin changing post schedules.

No problem. I am definitely still supporting the plugin.

Did you change the post status from Draft to Scheduled in the calendar? By default the post will remain a draft until you change it in either the quick edit screen in the calendar or the standard WordPress edit screen.

No I didn’t. Frankly, didn’t even cross my mind that would be necessary. And now that you mention it, really sounds and extra unnecessary step. I mean, if the draft was dragged to a specific day it means we want it published that day. I will try it later, but isn’t there a way to change that default?

I can understand your confusion. We were trying to make the calendar work like the standard WordPress. If you schedule a post in the future it always starts out as a draft until you change it to scheduled. Many people like this feature so they can plan out their posts without accidentally scheduling something that’s unfinished just because the time goes by.

Ok, thanks. I edited my original review. By the way… is there any chance that this plugin had messed up with my Jetpack? Because – coincidence, perhaps – the day I installed it, my Jetpack stopped communicating xmlrpc.php. Just asking, who knows…. ??

I have seen some issues where the calendar has conflicts with JetPack, but they normally break the calendar. I’ve never seen or heard of an issue where the calendar broke JetPack.
